Baby Time!

I got a call about baby shower favors and was asked if I had any pictures of work I had done.  I promised her I would work on something over the weekend and post pics for her to see.  I had a lot of fun working on these cookies.  I'd like to share these with you all.

Now the fun part, I get to eat them!! :)

Palm Trees & Beach Balls Graduation

This was a different request.  She asked for palm trees and beach balls for her daughters graduation party.  They are doing a bar-b-que beach theme.  Sounds so fun!  She also asked for the colorful swirls and I thought they came out pretty nice.  She want pink swirls with yellow sugar and yellow swirls with blue sugar.  I didn't think the yellow swirls came out as bright as the pink ones, so I decided to also do blue swirls with yellow sugar too!  Love them!

and now comes the colorful swirls.......

Congratulations Brittany!! Good luck in your new ventures!!

Kayla's Graduation

I love these cookies!  The colors are so nice!  She asked for stars and a few graduation caps since her daughter was home schooled.

Congratulations Kayla!!  Hope you all enjoyed the cookies :)

Weekend summer getaway!

Shawna requested some cookies for a weekend getaway with the kids.  She said "do what you feel like working on, something fun".  They were going away for her and Taylors birthday, so this is what I did for them.

I got an order for palm trees and beach balls coming up so I thought I'd practice.  She wants lime green and orange palm trees.  I didn't think I'd like it............I love it!!  What a great color combo!!

I've been wanting to try chocolate sugar cookies with chocolate royal icing.  OMG!!! Fantastic!!!!

I thought I'd throw some sports cookies in the mix too for Shane.  Poor kid, he was the only boy going.
This was my favorite cake of the bunch, aside from the chocolate on chocolate one!

Summer Time!

I had some company come in from out of town and my husband suggested that I do some fun in the sun cookies.  Gotta love my husband, always making suggestions but then blames me when he adds on a few pounds here and there.  This is what he got.

I loved doing the flip flops :)

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Shawna & Taylor!!  I thought for fun I would bake them a birthday cake that was vibrants and fun!.  They both love chocolate.  I made a swiss chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing and buttercream roses.

I still need to work on my ribbon roses, but they are getting better.

Don't it look just divine?  It was so moist and yummy!! I'm a chocolate lover myself!
I'm pretty sure they enjoyed it!  Thanks Shawna for always being my guinea pig when I want to try new things and having faith in me!!

Hollies Graduation

Graduation, parties, fun, excitement and a beginning to a new adventure.  Why not have cookies to start off the new beginning.  Hollie graduated from Warren G Harding and their colors are gold, black and white.  They wanted stars and circles, I threw in the graduation caps just for the fun of it.

Congratulations Hollie!!  Good luck on your new ventures!

Race Cars and Checkered Flags

Another request:  race cars and checkered flags for a boys first birthday.  How fun!!  I loved doing this order, it was alot of fun.  Her color scheme was blue, yellow and white.  The flags were tedious but I thought came out great.  I would love to do this one again.

Thought I'd make a road out a number one!

And I thought I'd throw in a birthday cake or two.

Happy Birthday Antonio!  Hope your day was wonderful!!

Colorful Swirls

I got a request for a colorful cookie, something bright and fun.  So I did a search on the internet and found this from Sprinklebakes http://www.sprinklebakes.com/2010/01/colorful-spiral-cookies.html.  I gave it a shot and this is how mine came out.

Just think of the possibilities, different color swirls, different color sugars, its endless!  I did modify my recipe though, I added egg. flour and more sugar..............end result:  YUMMY!!
I'm going to make these for an upcoming order.  She wants pink swirls/yellow coarse sugar and  yellow swirls/blue coarse sugar.  I'll let you know how it turns out!

Happy Anniversary!

Last month my husband & I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary.  I hadn't taken a class yet but had the kit already so I decided to get out the books and practice.  Once I got the hang of it I thought I'd try it out on a cake.  How fitting our anniversary was coming up.  This is what I did for my husband.  He was thrilled.  Not too shabby for a first timer, especially without a course under my belt.

Robot Fun!

Yay!  My son is turning 3!  Can't believe how fast time flies, its bittersweet.  He is soooo into robots. He loves other things like Toy Story, Little Bear, Backyardigans, but always Robots are a constant.  So that is the theme this year for his birthday.  I decided to make a robot cake for his birthday and some chip/snack bowls too out of robots.  This is what I came up with.

Front view, arms and legs are doughnuts and the robot is decorated with candy.

This is the back view.

Not a very clear pic, but the snack bowls were made out of boxes and decorated with jewels.  I also made robots out of juice boxes and candy.  They are the little robots, I don't think I got a big pic of those.

This picture is clearer.

I had alot of fun with this this year.  Aside from the icing melting on the cake, I thought it turned out pretty well.  I decided to take a cake class after this and found out "do not use butter in your buttercream icing on a hot/humid day!"  I can't wait to do this cake again once I learn fondant.

The end result:  My son loved it!!!  He told his dad, "Daddy, mommy made me a Robot cake and its enormous!"  To see the sparkle in his eyes and the big smile on his face is all I needed to know that this was a success!! Yes!!  Happy Birthday Peanut!
